Surfing in the St. Augustine area features a mix of consistent beach breaks and more powerful swells. The best waves generally occur during the winter months (October-March/April) and are influenced by swells from the east, though summer can bring hurricane-related surf. While generally smaller, the area offers a welcoming surf community and accessible waves for various skill levels.
-
St. Augustine Pier
A popular, crowded spot that works year-round as a beach break, accommodating both north and south-side surfers. Works good on most tide conditions, but better with incoming.
-
Anastasia State Park
Offers less crowded, quieter conditions, perfect for a more serene experience. Better from low to mid tide.
-
Out Back
Known for longer rides and occasional rippable peaks. Works best at dead low tide for long rides, or extreme high tide for heavier shore pound.
